Community kitchens in Gaza are great and we should support them, but how do we put people in touch with them for help? None of the Ghazzawis I’ve talked to have access to anyone consistently (as in, not sporadic aid) giving out food and water for free, let alone other necessities like clothing, hygiene supplies, medicine, or tents. Any guidance on how to direct people to these larger-scale resources would be extremely helpful, especially for people in the north

And if there’s anyone giving out diapers and baby formula in gaza, any info on that would be super helpful too

Leftist infighting right now is especially not needed

rosyish

The amount of name calling and finger pointing and jokes about moving to another country and how much you hate the Midwest and the south and how many of y’all know where the food bank is?

rosyish

No I’m being so dead ass do you know where the food bank is? The homeless shelter? Do you know the name of the domestic violence shelter near you? Do you know your neighbors???

rosyish

Last bit I’m adding to this. Whenever I start talking about community a LOT of y’all get confused thinking I mean people in your vicinity who agree with everything that you stand for. I don’t. I’m sorry. I mean your community. And I’m talking about the goals of said communities.

I originally put this in the tags, but FindHelp.org is a great place to start! It is US-based specifically tho. You put in your zip code and it'll give you information on organizations from housing to medical care to transportation to volunteering and more. It has filters so you can look for local, state, and national organizations

In 1998 we first got to see the ds9 episode “far beyond the stars”, in which Sisko experiences violence and racism through the life of a black sci fi writer in the 1950s. 22 years later it is absolutely unacceptable that the story could have been set in 2020 and he would still have faced racism, hatred and injustice. We don’t deserve to look back at it as a “lesson from the past” because he would still have had to fear for and fight for his basic human rights - that is the reality of being black in 2020. Racism and police violence isn’t a story of the past, this is the reality we are living in right now, this is the reason why its important to fight and speak up. (This is also obviously about more than just star trek, I just wanted to make my stance clear and show my support in a way that was authentic to the content I post here. I want to make it clear that if you like my art and disagree with black lives matter, then my art is not for you.)

my favourite gift as you share your transfemininity is when everyone knits you a cloak out of bad faith, and does it in sacred silent complicity. days and weeks and months sutured together with the loving weight of incessant correction based on the worst interpretation of the words out of your mouth. we love the cloak dont we girls? sometimes they’ll toss you a thread by not even letting you finish your sentence, feigning incredulity at your experiential limits, or just making fun of you. i love the cloak. have you also learned to wear it like it is invisible, and weighs nothing? i smile and i am genial when i am misinterpreted again and again. when i am at once too irrational a woman for this conversation and too dangerous a man, i make sure they can see i feel nothing! i am so glad i was given the opportunity to be so graceful. to wear a cloak of lead, with every thread still tripping under my feet, and to wear it like it was not there at all.
